Class Info
Taekwondo Works offers instruction in traditional taekwondo for both children and adults. Our instruction combines self-defense, exercise and sport. Our students can expect to reap benefits often associated with martial arts and athletics: increased strength, stamina and flexibility; improved concentration and self-confidence; and knowledge of self-defense. We find that, across the board, taekwondo training enhances quality of life. And for some, taekwondo can become a way of life.

Traditional Atmosphere: We wear traditional uniforms. We bow. We line up in straight rows. We encourage self-respect and respect for others. We learn and practice forms.

Friendly Teaching Style: Taekwondo Works favors a friendly teaching style in a safe environment. Students can expect to sweat, but we do not act like military drill instructors.
Conditioning: Classes always include a warm-up and stretching element. Classes periodically include core training, body weight resistance exercises, aerobic conditioning, and advanced flexibility training.
Fundamentals: Taekwondo is known for its emphasis on kicking. Traditional taekwondo also includes strikes with the hands, elbows and knees, as well as blocks.
Self-Defense: Self-defense techniques include grabs, escapes, evasion, counterattacks, falling and throwing.
Sparring: Regular sparring can include 3, 2, and 1 step sparring; as well as no contact free-sparring. For interested students, light contact sparring is available as Olympic-style competition sparring with protective gear; and wrestling/rolling/grappling.
