Mission Statement

Taekwondo Works believes that taekwondo has something to offer every student regardless of gender, age or athletic prowess.  It is our goal to assist students in strengthening their body, mind and character.  We seek to make a positive contribution to our community through student interaction.

About Our School

Founded in 1985 in Boone, North Carolina, Taekwondo Works is an independent school providing traditional taekwondo classes, following fairly closely the Chang Hun style (Blue Cottage style).  Schools like ours are commonly referred to as "ITF" schools after the International Taekwondo Federation, however there are currently a number of organizations promoting ITF-style taekwondo, especially since the death of General Choi in 2002.  (We welcome other taekwondo practitioners and other martial artists to train with us.)

Our instruction combines self-defense, exercise and sport.  Our students can expect to reap benefits often associated with martial arts and athletics: increased strength, stamina and flexibility; improved concentration and self-confidence; and knowledge of self-defense.  We find that, across the board, taekwondo training enhances quality of life.  And for some, taekwondo can become a way of life.

As an independent school, we do not require students to purchase memberships to national or international taekwondo organizations, however we can assist with obtaining those if a student desires.
